I enjoyed painting these little landscapes.  I  used a lot of artistic licence as I only use the reference photo to have a rough idea as to where to place the path / stream etc.

Summer Stream in acrylics

Really pleased how this one turned out - everything just seemed to come together.

I liked the placement of the tree and stream in reference photo but not the season which was a winter snow scene.  So I kept the placement of the stream and tree the same and changed the season to summer.  Really pleased with how it turned out.

Summer Birches in acrylics

The only part of the reference photo I used for this one was the reference for the birch trees.  I changed everything else.  Really pleased with how the final painting.

Autumn Tree in acrylics

Originally I wasn't going to be add the rocks into the scene but when I had finished, the painting looked a bit flat so I decided it need the rocks.  I started the rocks with a palette knife and finished them off with a brush - worked really well and I like the texture it created.

Country River in acrylics

I really enjoyed painting this one. I  used the fan brush again to paint the fields and grasses - it is my new favourite brush for landscapes - just works really well and I love the effect it creates.  Really pleased with the final painting.

Spring River in watercolours

I used the same reference photo that used to paint Fall Stream ACEO a week or so ago but this time round I changed the season to spring  and added in the birch trees.  Really pleased with how the final painting turned out.

So for my next one, I  painted this little autumn scene. I  like the play of light on the river banks so I am thinking of painting it again but in larger format and changing it to a spring scene.

Bluebell Stream in watercolours

So this is the second painting.  I changed it to a bluebell scene as I do love painting bluebells.   I used a mixture of cobalt blue and Alizarin Crimson for the bluebell colour  which seems to work really well.

River in the Forest in Acrylics

This  is my acrylic version of the earlier watercolour painting I did a while back.  I cropped the reference photo so that it focused more on the waterfall, opened up the river on the right hand side and  extended the background trees.  I am really pleased how the painting turned out.  The hardest part was coming up with a title - much easier when I paint an animal or bird as they name themselves.

I changed this one quite a bit from the reference photo.  Just the placement of the river and distant trees are from the reference photo.  Rather pleased how it turned out in the end.
