I had fun painting these yummy ice creams - I think they would look rather nice together so might create illustrations with them all.

I had fun creating these three. My favorite is the little bear which I will turn into a happy birthday card.

I had fun painting these ones. I rather like how this robin turned out.

These were rather fun to illustrate - some yummy cakes that I am going to pair with the mouse illustrations that I previously.

I had fun painting the strawberry of this one.

A few watercolour paintings

I felt like a change so decided to paint a few watercolour landscapes - a spring and autumn scene.  I painted them together - the reason being is I am a bit impatient to let the paint dry completely so that way I could work on one and while that one dried, I work other one - worked really well.

Spring ACEO in watercolours

I decided to paint this one in watercolours as I haven't  painted a little aceo landscape in watercolours before so thought it would  make for a nice change.  I cropped the reference photo a bit and added the flowers.  Rather pleased how it turned out.

Spring measures 2.5 x 3.5 inches and is painted on 300gsm rough Arches watercolour paper.

Variegated Fairy Wren in Watercolours

I have had this one printed out for ages to paint.  I started painting it in acrylics a while back but was never happy with it so I never finished it - I ended up painting over it.  I finally decided that it was more suited towards a watercolour painting. and I am really pleased with the final result.

Summer River in Watercolours

I couldn't decide on which medium to paint this one in. So in the end I decided to paint it in watercolours  but I will also be painting a 6 x 6 inch acrylic version.  For the acrylic version, the foliage will be a darker green and I am going to open up the river on the right hand side ie the trees on the right hand side will go and I will extend the background trees   - that is the plan anyway -  will see how it goes.

Superb Fairy Wren in watercolours

Photographed this little fellow at Liffey Falls.  He was also fascinated by his reflection in the car mirrors.  I was undecided on which medium to use but finally settled on watercolour as I have painted a few wren's now in both  oils and acrylics so thought watercolours made for a nice change.  It is a bit different painting in watercolours -  had to preserve the white of the paper for highlights and can't paint as detailed as I normally do.  Rather pleased with the result though.

Puffin in watercolours

I felt like a change so decided to paint this bird in watercolours.  Was rather fun to paint - I have worked out that when I paint in watercolours, I have to paint the same way as I do with oils and acrylics - ie I don't prepare  washes beforehand - I just squeeze out the colours I want for the painting
and mix as I go. 

Puffin measures 5 x 7 inches and is painted on 300gsm Arches rough watercolour paper.

Autumn Walk in watercolours

This is the second watercolour landscape that I did.   The pathway was a bit tricky but I eventually got there.  I actually think the two watercolour landscapes compliment each other rather well.

Bluebell Woodlands in watercolour

I painted two watercolour landscapes yesterday.  This is the first one - Bluebell Woodlands.  I added the puddle of water to make it a bit more interesting.  Rather pleased how it turned out.

Woodland Bridge in watercolours

I had planned to paint some aceo's today but I had been thinking  about how I would paint this scene in watercolours all weekend so decided to paint it instead and then give my full attention to the aceo's paintings tomorrow. I had fun painting this one - I used quite a bit of artistic license when it came to painting the flowers and stream.  I am rather pleased how it turned out.

Countryside in watercolours

I felt like a change in medium so pulled out my watercolours.  I had fun painting this one.  What I  do like about watercolours is that you can't really fiddle with the painting and I am able to paint in a more looser style which is a nice change from the more detailed paintings I do.
