Day 72 - White Magnolias Couldn't help but paint some birds - I love painting Superb Fairy Wrens. The two wrens were a bit of an experiment as I am thinking of using the digital paintings as references for a traditional acrylic painting - just haven't decided on the size yet for the paintings.

Just playing around with trying to work out if I like seeing the pencil outline or not. I think I like both so think it is going to come down to what I am drawing and the look I am going for.

Going forward I am going to post the daily drawing challenge paintings in a group rather than individually as I have other projects that I want to work on that I also want to share. I couldn't help but do a finished illustration for day 19 (Little bear with flower bouquet) and this one is my favourite one to date.

I think I am finally finding my digital style and it will be interesting to see what direction it takes over the next few weeks.

This one was rather fun to paint.   I built the underneath layer up a bit differently to how I normally do as a bit of an experiment and really love how it turned out so thinking about painting  a larger version of this scene.

Enjoyed painting this one - I started off with just the basic placement for the trees and path and then built the painting up from there.

Country Track in acrylics

I changed this one quite a bit when compared to the reference photo by taking out the shrub foliage on the left to show the fields and mountain and I left  out a large tree on the right.  Really pleased with how the final painting turned out.

A few watercolour landscapes

I felt like a break from detail so painted a few small watercolour landscapes.  They  all measure 5 x 5 inches and are painted on 300gsm Daler Rowney "The Langton" NOT watercolour paper.

Bluebell Forest in acrylics

I have had this one printed out for a while to paint - love the tree in the foreground.   I used a few glazes of Transparent Red Oxide on the foreground tree which worked really well.

Decided to paint  a landscape and seascape aceo as I needed a mini break from  detail.  So this is the little landscape - it was rather fun one to paint.

A few watercolour paintings

I felt like a change so decided to paint a few watercolour landscapes - a spring and autumn scene.  I painted them together - the reason being is I am a bit impatient to let the paint dry completely so that way I could work on one and while that one dried, I work other one - worked really well.

I also cropped this ones  reference photo and changed it to more of a spring scene.  Love how my trees turned out - used a flat brush which seems to work well.
