Snowy Mountain in Acrylics

This one was fun to paint. I first painted it digitally by roughly painting out a mountain scene and then used that as the reference for the acrylic painting.

 This one was fun to paint.  I used the gold metallic paint to add a bit sparkle to the painting.

Autumn River No 4 in acrylics

I have been experimenting a bit with how I paint landscapes by starting off by roughly blocking in the scene  with the Atelier Free Flow Acrylics and then building the detail layer on top with the Atelier Interactive Acrylics.  It works rather well so going to paint a few more using that method..

Wynyard, Tasmania in acrylics

This one was rather fun to paint.   I built the underneath layer up a bit differently to how I normally do as a bit of an experiment and really love how it turned out so thinking about painting  a larger version of this scene.

Spring River 2 in acrylics

When ordering some more paper from the Art shop I use, I noticed that they are now stocking Ampersand Panels.  I have always wanted to try the Ampersand Smooth panels so decided to order a few.

I love the surface of these panels - they are so smooth (much smoother than the gessobord panels) and the paint just glides on in a very similar way when using  the Colourfix Smooth Paper.

I will definitely will purchase a few more.

Winters Day in acrylics

It has been a rather hot summer here in Qld with no break from the 30C plus temperate each day for last few weeks and with more high temperatures on the way.  It is meant to be heading to 35 / 37C on the weekend. So when I saw this reference photo, it reminded me of my trip to Tasmania when it was snowing and nice and cold 😊.  So for a time, I was taken back to the memory of the lovely cold weather I experienced while I was painting this scene.

Snow Capped Mountain ACEO in acrylics

Decided to paint a little landscape scene for a change.  It seemed appropriate to paint a snow scene as we have a cold front on the way and there is a possibility of snow showers on the Darling Downs / Granite belt (which is about 132 km inland from Brisbane) over the weekend.  Think I will be pulling out my gloves and beanie for the weekend.

I love how the light hits the fence post and gate with this one.  The only change I really made was adding in the flowers.

I decided to paint this one in watercolours. Mainly because I could do a wash of colour for the background trees which work really well.

Woodland Stream in watercolours

This is the first of two paintings that I did using the some reference photo.  I used the reference photo for the  main placement of the trees and stream but that's about it.  Rather pleased how it turned out.

Woodland Path in acrylics

I decided to paint this one for the Daily Paintworks Path challenge.    I couldn't decide if I should paint it on the Gessobord panel or the Canvas panel - eventually went with the canvas panel as I wanted a bit texture.  I am rather pleased with how it turned out.
