Enjoyed painting this one - I started off with just the basic placement for the trees and path and then built the painting up from there.

Autumn Woodlands in acrylics

It doesn't feel much like autumn at the moment as it is still rather hot here in Brisbane.  So the next best thing was to paint an Autumn scene instead.  Really pleased with how it turned out.

A few watercolour paintings

I felt like a change so decided to paint a few watercolour landscapes - a spring and autumn scene.  I painted them together - the reason being is I am a bit impatient to let the paint dry completely so that way I could work on one and while that one dried, I work other one - worked really well.

I felt like painting a few landscape aceo's.  They were rather fun to paint - kept the path more or less the same  in each one and just changed the seasons and position of the trees.

Bluebell Glade in acrylics

This painting start out as a snow scene with a partly frozen river but it was not working so I changed it completely and painted a bluebell scene. The only element that I used from the reference photo was the placement of the river.    I also tried out a new colour for the trees  - Transparent Red Oxide.  Really like it and when mixed with Ultramarine Blue it creates a interesting black.   Really pleased with how this one turned out.

I find the hardest part is trying to find a title for a painting.  Bird and animals are so much easier to name.  I painted some seascapes which I will post in the coming weeks and they are even harder to think of a title for.  At least with a landscape I can play around with words of forest, woods, path, spring etc.  Sure think of something in the end.

Bluebell Path in watercolours

I haven't painted a bluebell scene for a while.  I changed this one quite a bit from the reference photo - I opened up the path and added in the trees. It was rather a fun one to paint.

As I type this, I can hear thunder so looks like we will have a storm this afternoon - temperature also has dropped a bit which makes for a nice change.

Autumn Woods ACEO in acrylics

My two favourite season's to paint are Autumn and Spring - love the autumn colours and colourful flowers of spring.  I have another Autumn scene lined up to paint but it will be 6 x 4 inches on canvas board.   I actually have three paintings all ready to go - the 6 x 4 Autumn scene,  a 6 x 6 butterfly and  6 x 4 Scarlet Robin. I am planning on working on the butterfly this afternoon - hopefully I will be able to finish it in one sitting.

Cottage in the Woods ACEO in acrylics

I couldn't decide if I should paint this as an aceo or as a large painting.  In the end I decided to paint it as an aceo  but I am still thinking about painting a larger version of this lovely cottage  -  I have a few ideas that I want to play around with so will see how it goes.
