I decided to paint an autumn scene.  Not that you would think it was autumn here in Brisbane as it still rather hot.  Hopefully we will get a cooler change coming through soon and we will have a cooler April.

Hepatic Tanager ACEO in acrylics

Really enjoyed painting this one. Was rather tricky getting the depth to the red feathers and I
ended up using quite a few glazes to get there.

Hepatic Tanager's are a medium sized American songbird. They measure around 20 cm in length and weigh between 23 - 47 grams.

Blue Dacnis ACEO in acrylics

This one was rather fun to paint.  I love how her feathers are all fluffed up. 

The Blue Dacnis or Turquoise Honeycreepy are found in Central and South America.  The male is mainly turquoise blue whereas the females and immature are mainly green with a blue head. They measure around 12.7 cm in length and weigh about 13 grams.
