 This one was fun to paint - everything just worked.  I used the copper and gold metallic paint on the rocks which gives them a bit of a sparkle.

Kirra Beach in acrylics

I discovered Kirra Beach a few weeks back when down at the Gold Coast. There is a  small rocky headland that separates Kirra Beach and Coolangatta Beach and  I ended up taking quite a few reference photos from this spot.

A few months back I took a day trip down to the Gold Coast (about 1 hour and bit drive away).  Took a few reference  photos at Burleigh Beach and decided to paint this scene.

Tasmanian Coast in acrylics

I was looking through my photos and came across the photo's I took when on holiday in Tasmania a few years back and decided to paint this scene.  I enjoy painting the seascapes so I must take a trip  to the Sunshine Coast and take some more references photos of the beach, waves etc.

Marcoola Beach in acrylics

A few weeks ago, I had short break away to Marcoola Beach on the Sunshine Coast.  (About an hours drive away).  It was a lovely spot with spectacular sea view and this was the view from my accommodation.

Sea Cove in acrylics

I haven't painted to seascape for ages and I felt like a change so I painted this lovely seascape scene.  I am really pleased with the final painting - everything just seemed to work.

Moonlit Wave in oils

I felt like a change so I decided to paint the sea.. I bought a DVD tutorial  a while back on painting the sea / wave in moonlight and have been wanting to paint my own version for a while.  I went through my photos from my holiday to the Bay of Fires in Tasmania a few years back and found one that was suitable.  I just printed it out in black and white.    I used Prussian Blue, Phthalo Blue and Ultramarine Blue for the wave - it worked rather well.

Calm before the Storm in watercolours

Really pleased how this one turned out.  I set out to create a very stormy looking sky - was going to use Payne's grey for the darkest part of the sky but I always find that it dries a lot lighter so decided to try out Indigo colour  that I bought a few weeks - really worked well and I love the effect it created so will have to use colour a bit more often.
