It is always a bit more tricky to paint something that is more or less the same colour but I like the challenge.  I ended doing quite a few glazes to build up the depth to the feathers.

This one was a bit more tricky to paint than I thought it would be.  I used quite a few glazes to depth and colour to the feathers.

For this weeks bird aceo's I decided to paint some sparrows.  This is the first one a Black Throated Sparrow - I love its markings.

Superb Fairy Wren No 8 in acrylics

I was going through my photos from a few years back and came across the reference photo for this one.  Back then I would have put it into the too hard basket as painting a beak front on is a lot trickier than painting a beak from a side angle.  Now days I am up for a challenge and since I really love the way he is perch on the branch I couldn't resist painting him.

Winters Day in acrylics

It has been a rather hot summer here in Qld with no break from the 30C plus temperate each day for last few weeks and with more high temperatures on the way.  It is meant to be heading to 35 / 37C on the weekend. So when I saw this reference photo, it reminded me of my trip to Tasmania when it was snowing and nice and cold 😊.  So for a time, I was taken back to the memory of the lovely cold weather I experienced while I was painting this scene.
