Sensation Pear in oils

I enjoyed painting this one.  The pear was rather yummy too.   I have only seen these pears in Woolworths -  neither Coles or the fruit shop seem to have them.  They are so bright and colourful and that is what caught my eye when buying other vegetables in Woolworths.

Poppies in oils

I felt like painting some flowers  for a change so I  painted these poppies.  Love their bright  colours.

We have been having weird weather again.  Been pouring with rain here for the last two days. Fortunately I don't live by any streams or rivers but other areas of South East Queensland are being affect by  floodings again.    Hopefully this will be last heavy rains we have for a while.

Tropical Island in oils

I had fun painting this one.  Could imagine myself on holiday there.  Nice and peaceful and sunny.  We have been having a strange summer.  February is usually our  hottest month but so far it has been much cooler than normal.    Raining here at the moment and the weather prediction is for more rain for the rest of the week.  At least everything is nice and green.

Fruit Platter in oils

I had fun painting this one.  Painting the grapes was interesting - was easier just to paint one grape at a time.  The peach is the Golden Queen variety that I mentioned in an earlier post . I can only buy them from the local fruit shop - not to sure how much longer they will be in season  but they are delicious

Is Playtime Over? - Kitten in oils

We have had rather a wild week of weather here in South East Queensland.  I have never experienced so much rain and strong winds.  Fortunately the area that I live in Brisbane has not been affected by the floods.  The only damage we have had were trees being uprooted and the shade clothes at the local shopping centre coming down.  The hardest hit area has been Bundaberg which is about a five hours drive from here.  People have had to be rescued by  helicopter.  The force of nature is unbelievable.  Hopefully we do not have to experience another ex cyclonic weather system again this summer.

On a brighter note, I did manage to paint this cute little kitten.  The title "Is Playtime Over? seemed  rather appropriately.

I have family staying with me at the moment so it is a bit difficult to paint. Hopefully I can finish another painting this week.

Reflections in oils

Sometimes a title for a painting just comes naturally and other times it takes me forever to think of a title.   This time around the painting  sort of named itself as I love the way the nectarines are reflected in the silver jug as well as the table and so the title Reflections seems rather appropriate.

Peach in oils

Enjoyed painting this one.  It is a yellow peach. Love the colours.  On the weekend I came across another  variety at the fruit shop - Golden Queen peaches.  They are really delicious - taste better than the yellow peach variety.  They are more "peach" in colour.  Will have to buy some more and do still life painting that includes them.
