I had fun painting this one.  I experimented first by painting the concept digitally before starting the acrylic painting - that way I could experiment with colours etc.

Lemon in acrylics

 I painted another still life for a change as I needed a bit of a break from detail. I love the contrast of the bright yellow lemon against the black background.

Strawberry in acrylics

I haven't painted a  still life for ages but I bought a punnet of strawberries for a Christmas Eve dessert and they inspired to want to paint one.  Rather enjoyed painting a still life again so will have to do a few more this year. 

It was my last 6 x 6 inch Ampersand Panel so I have order same more which will hopefully arrive next week.  Using a different company this time as the company I used before, half of the panels I ordered arrived damaged so fingers cross this batch will all arrive in one piece.

Cherry in watercolour

I felt like  painting something just for fun so decided to paint this cherry.  I used quite a few layers of yellow and red to paint the cherry.  Wasn't sure if I was going to leave the background white but decided it would look rather striking with a black background so go for it.

I have had this still life set up in mind for a while and I am rather pleased how it turned out.  The crackers and cheese were rather yummy to eat too.

Cup of Tea in oils

When I painted the Breakfast painting, I really enjoyed painting the teacup so I decided to feature the teacup in it's own painting.  I love the colour of the cup.  I will definitely be including it in another painting.

Enjoyed painting this one. Painting the egg was interesting as I had to think about what colours to mix together to get  the right colour for the shell.  I also loved painting the egg cup and tea cup.

I am really happy with this one. I decided to paint the watermelon at an angle and I love the 3d effective that I created.

Peach in oils

Enjoyed painting this one.  It is a yellow peach. Love the colours.  On the weekend I came across another  variety at the fruit shop - Golden Queen peaches.  They are really delicious - taste better than the yellow peach variety.  They are more "peach" in colour.  Will have to buy some more and do still life painting that includes them.

Lemon Tea in oils

This is my next still life.  The lemon was about the same size as the teacup! Our lemons can grow to rather a large size.  The reason being is that we have a worm farm and they produce what I call "worm juice".  The plants love it and since using it on the lemon tree we tend to grow  rather large lemons.  It is rather handy having a lemon tree around - there is always one ready to be picked when you need one.   Was fun painting the lemon so I am thinking of doing another painting featuring just a lemon or lemon pieces.

Tea and Cherries in oils

Another one painted on the 5 x 5 inch Ampersand Gessobord.  Was rather fun to paint -  a bit of a challenge painting a white teacup.  Playing around with a few ideas for my next still life - just haven't found the right combination yet but something will eventually fall into place.

This is the next still life that I set up.  Rather like how I managed to position the two cherries .  Took ages to find the right position.  Sometimes  it feels like it  takes longer to set up a still life than it takes to paint it.  Painted this one on the 5 x 5 inches Ampersand Gessobord panel

Vegetable Still Life 1 in oils

Really enjoyed painting this one.  Love all the bright colours.  I thought the cherry tomatoes were an excellent addition to the still life - actually been ages since I have bought cherry tomatoes as they have been too expensive.  A couple of months ago we were paying nearly $10/kg for tomatoes!!!! Fortunately they have come back down to a more reasonably price just in time for summer salads.  The painting  measures 6 x 6 inches on Ampersand Gessobord.

Coffee Break in oils

I found my still life box - it was stuck right at the back of the top cupboard - I probably should have waited for someone to come and help me as I have 9 foot ceilings so standing on a ladder trying to pull it out from the back of the cupboard was not the smartest thing to do but I managed to get it down.  So this is the first still life I set up.  A cup of coffee in my mug and a biscuit (a Delta Cream by Arnotts).  On the weekend, I went and bought some satin material for my next one which will be a vegetable still life.  Rather fun doing my own still life's so there will be more to come.
