Maltese Pup in acrylics

This one was a bit of a challenge to paint re white fur.  I did quite a few layers to get the depth to the fur.  Really please with how it turned out.

Golden Cheeked Warbler in acrylics

I love how this one is perched on the branch and couldn't resist painting it.

I usually only use phthalo blue in a seascape painting or when painting blue feathers. But when I came to do this one, I accidentally picked up the tube of  phthalo blue paint instead of Ultramarine Blue. So since it was now on my pallet, I decided to experiment with it in my background colours and really like the results.

Yellow Faced Grassquit ACEO in acrylics

This one was bit more tricky to paint than I thought it would be.  I did quite a few glazes to get the depth and colour to the feathers.


Yellow Bellied Grassquits are found in Central America tropics and surrounding regions. It measures between 10 - 10.7 cm and weigh around 8 - 10 grams.

Whinchat in acrylics

This is another one that I have had printed out for ages to paint.  Just had to think about how I was going to paint the flowers and finally decided to give it a go.  Really pleased with how it turned out.

I took the reference photo for this one a few years back in Tasmania.  I have had it printed for ages to paint and was finally ready to tackle it.  I often do that - print something out to paint and then ponder how I am going to go about painting it.   Probably  the reason I have such a huge pile of references photo's printed / saved.
