I love the challenge of painting red feathers.  I did quite a few layers / glazes to build the depth to the feathers.

Summer Tanager ACEO in acrylics

I love the way this one is perched on the branch and his vibrant red feathers.  It took me forever to get the depth to the feathers - I used quite a few glazes to build up the depth and colour.

Summer Tanagers are an American Songbird.  They measure around  17 cm in length and weigh about 30 grams.

Summer Tanager measures 2.5 x 3.5 inches and is painted on Colourfix Suede paper.
