Violet Eared Waxbill ACEO in acrylics

I love the colours of this one.  For the tail feathers, I  did a few glazes.  I used white first to indicate the feathers and then went over with a glaze and then repeated until it looked right.

Violet Eared Waxbill's are found in the drier land of Southern Africa.  They measure around 5 inches in length.

Violet Eared Waxbill measures 2.5 x 3.5 inches and is painted on 300gsm smooth Arches watercolour paper.

Many thanks to Derek Keats for the reference photo.
