Eastern Spinebill ACEO in acrylics

This was another one that just worked.  Wasn't sure to begin with on what colours to mix for the underpart feathers and in the end  I mixed raw sienna, a bit of yellow ochre and burnt sienna and a touch a cadmium yellow plus white or burnt umber for the lighter or darker areas  - worked out to be the perfect colour mix.

The Eastern Spinebill is a species of honeyeater and is found in south - eastern Australia including the gardens of the urban areas of Sydney and Melbourne.  They measure between 15 - 16 cm in length and weigh on average 11 grams.

Eastern Spinebill measures 3.5x 2.5 inches and is painted on 300gsm smooth Arches Watercolour paper.

Many thanks to Patrick Kavanagh for the reference photo.
