Black Tailed Gnatcatcher ACEO in acrylics

I love how this one is perched on the branch.

The Black Tailed Gnatcatcher is a small songbird found in South Western United States and Northern Mexico.  They measure around 11 - 13 cm in length and weigh between 5.1 - 6 grams.

I couldn't resist painting this one and love how it turned out.  Painting the snow was interesting - ended up stippling it on with a deerfoot brush which worked really well.

Ovenbird ACEO in acrylics

I was rather fascinated by this ones name and its interesting markings.  Its name comes from the  nest it builds as the dome and side entrance of the nest resembles that of a Dutch oven.

Ovenbirds breed in eastern North America and in Central America.  They measure between 11 - 14 cm in length and weigh between 16 - 28 grams.
