Hibiscus in acrylics

I decided to paint a flower for a change.  Originally I was going to have the flower against the white of the paper but after I had finished painting it, I decide it need a background colour.  So decided do then wash so that had more watercolour effect.  Really pleased with how it turned out.  I used quite a few glazes to get the depth to the petals.

Hibiscus measures 6 x 6 inches and is painted on 300gsm smooth Arches watercolour paper.

I actually went outside to look for a lemon but saw that the hibiscus was flowering and it looked so beautiful that I decided to paint it instead - can always pick a lemon another day.  It is 5 x 5 inches on Ampersand Gessobord.
