Beautiful Firetail ACEO in acrylics

This one was a difficult one to paint - nearly gave up on it but eventually used a larger brush and just made more of an impression of its feathers.  Think I will have to paint something that is not too detailed next - I have a tiger cub aceo that I want to paint, but might leave that one for later on in the week.

Beautiful Firetails are found South eastern Australia from Newcastle to Kangaroo Island.  They are also known as Firetail Finch or Tasmanian Finch. I wish I had seen one when I was in Tasmania.

Beautiful Firetail measures 2.5 x 3.5 inches and is painted on 300gsm smooth Arches watercolour paper.

Many thanks to Ron Knight for the reference photo.
